Mae Moore

MySpace Facebook Website

Understandably, Canadian singer/ songwriter Mae Moore has been compared to artists such as Sarah McLachlan, Joni Mitchell, and Diana Krall, yet she stands apart in her musical vision. Mae’s soulful blend of folk, jazz, and rock is uniquely her own, unencumbered by imitative links to others. Mapping the human heart has long been Mae Moore’s calling, and her many fans on both sides of the border prove she’s always been good at it. Getting her start in the smoky folk clubs and coffeehouses of southern Ontario, she later moved on to the thriving indie club scene of Vancouver, B.C.

Her first big break as a songwriter was when she co-penned the song "Heaven In Your Eyes," the 1985 hit for Loverboy from the "Top Gun" soundtrack. Her songwriting skills got her noticed, and lead to a record deal with CBS (now Sony) and her debut recording, 1990’s Oceanview Motel. Her subsequent recordings such as 1992’s Bohemia (an international hit) and 1995’s Dragonfly established her as a standard and respected artist at Triple A radio in the US. Since then Mae has returned to a more stripped down acoustic sound as heard on Oh My!, recorded with husband Lester Quitzau.

Blessed with an artist’s eye, Mae has been songwriting for over thirty-five years. Her songs have been heard in major movie soundtracks, hit television shows and all over the radio. With two Juno nominations, two SOCAN awards and many chart successes, Mae has forged a career sharing the stage with such folk/rock luminaries as Sarah McLachlan, John Hiatt, Marianne Faithfull, Crosby, Stills and Nash, Richard Thompson and more.

Most recently, Mae has been back in the recording studio working with producer Joby Baker (Alex Cuba, Cowboy Junkies, The Bills) in a project of new experiences, ones that come from a lifetime of pursuing that which she loves. Her new album, Folklore, is both a compelling work of Canadiana and a mature exploration of inner and outer landscapes, featuring Mae's own artwork in the album package and released in conjunction with a companion coffee table book containing 19 of her paintings and a download code for the music.
